उद्योगपर्व — विदुरनीतिः (Adhyāya 37): आयुःक्षयहेतवः, नीतिसूत्राणि, बलभेदाः, पाण्डव-विग्रहदोषदर्शनम्
येषु दुष्टेषु दोष: स्याद् योगक्षेमस्थ भारत । सदा प्रसादनं तेषां देवतानामिवाचरेत्,भारत! जिनके ऊपर दोषारोपण करनेसे योगक्षेममें बाधा आती हो, उन लोगोंको देवताकी भाँति सदा प्रसन्न रखना चाहिये
yeṣu duṣṭeṣu doṣaḥ syād yogakṣemastha bhārata | sadā prasādanaṁ teṣāṁ devatānām ivācaret bhārata ||
Vidura menasihati: Walaupun berurusan dengan orang yang buruk kelakuannya, jika mencari-cari kesalahan mereka akan menghalang keselamatan serta kesejahteraan diri, maka hendaklah mereka sentiasa ditenangkan—seolah-olah dilayani seperti dewa. Dorongan etiknya bersifat pragmatik: elakkan celaan yang tidak perlu yang menggugat kestabilan, dan peliharalah damai melalui pendamaian yang terukur.
विदुर उवाच
When open blame or fault-finding would harm one’s welfare and security (yogakṣema), wisdom lies in restraint and conciliation—maintaining outward pleasantness even toward troublesome people to prevent greater damage.
In Vidura’s counsel during the Udyoga Parva, he instructs the addressed Bhārata (Dhṛtarāṣṭra in context) on practical governance and interpersonal conduct: avoid provoking dangerous or disruptive persons when it would jeopardize stability, and keep them pacified.
