उद्योगपर्व — विदुरनीतिः (Adhyāya 37): आयुःक्षयहेतवः, नीतिसूत्राणि, बलभेदाः, पाण्डव-विग्रहदोषदर्शनम्
पूजनीया महाभागा: पुण्याश्च गृहदीप्तय: । स्त्रिय: श्रियो गृहस्योक्तास्तस्माद् रक्ष्या विशेषत:
pūjanīyā mahābhāgāḥ puṇyāś ca gṛhadīptayaḥ | striyaḥ śriyo gṛhasyoktās tasmād rakṣyā viśeṣataḥ ||
Vidura menyatakan bahawa wanita wajib dihormati: mereka amat beruntung, suci, dan menjadi sinar rumah tangga. Bahkan mereka disebut sebagai kemakmuran rumah itu sendiri; maka mereka harus dilindungi dengan penjagaan yang khusus.
