Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 3 — Sātyaki on Inner Disposition, Legitimacy, and Coercive Readiness
कर्ण चैव निहत्याजावभिषेक्ष्याम पाण्डवम् | हमलोग शकुनिसहित धृतराष्ट्रपुत्र दुर्योधनको तथा कर्णको भी युद्धमें मारकर पाण्डुनन्दन युधिष्ठिरका राज्याभिषेक करेंगे
karṇaṃ caiva nihatya ājau abhiṣekṣyāma pāṇḍavam | śakuni-sahitaṃ dhṛtarāṣṭra-putraṃ duryodhanaṃ tathā karṇaṃ ca yuddhe mārayitvā pāṇḍu-nandanaṃ yudhiṣṭhiram rājye ’bhiṣiñcayiṣyāmaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Sesudah menewaskan Karṇa di medan perang, kami akan menobatkan Pāṇḍava. Setelah membunuh Duryodhana, putera Dhṛtarāṣṭra, bersama Śakuni—dan Karṇa juga—dalam peperangan, kami akan mendudukkan Yudhiṣṭhira, putera kesayangan Pāṇḍu, di atas takhta.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse emphasizes the restoration of rightful rule as a dharmic goal: removing leaders seen as sustaining adharma (Duryodhana with Śakuni and Karṇa) and installing Yudhiṣṭhira, whose kingship symbolizes moral and political order.
Vaiśampāyana reports a resolve/forecast tied to the coming Kurukṣetra war: the defeat and death of key Kaurava-aligned figures (Duryodhana, Śakuni, Karṇa) culminating in Yudhiṣṭhira’s consecration as king.
