Educational Q&A

The verse condemns adharma driven by deceit: when greed and humiliation govern counsel, people are pushed to treat persons as property. It underscores that unethical means (fraud in gambling and coercive taunting) lead to escalating wrongdoing and social collapse.

Vāyu recalls the dice-hall episode: Śakuni, the Gāndhāra king, uses deceptive speech to provoke the Pāṇḍava into further stakes, urging that Draupadī (Kṛṣṇā/Yājñasenī) be placed as a wager after prior losses.
