भीष्म उवाच ततो मामब्रवीद्‌ राम: प्रहसन्निव भारत । दिष्ट्या भीष्म मया सार्थ योद्धुमिच्छसि संगरे,भीष्मजी कहते हैं--भरतनन्दन! तब परशुरामजीने मुझसे हँसते हुए-से कहा --“भीष्म! बड़े सौभाग्यकी बात है कि तुम रफक्षेत्रमें मेरे साथ युद्ध करना चाहते हो

bhīṣma uvāca | tato mām abravīd rāmaḥ prahasann iva bhārata | diṣṭyā bhīṣma mayā sārthaṃ yoddhum icchasi saṅgare ||

Bhīṣma berkata: Lalu Rama (Paraśurāma) berkata kepadaku, seolah-olah tersenyum, wahai keturunan Bharata: “Bertuaahlah engkau, Bhīṣma, kerana engkau ingin bertempur denganku di medan perang.”
