Adhyāya 152: Kaurava-sainyavibhāgaḥ

/ अपन बक। है २ >> त्रिपठ्चाशदाधिकशततमोब< ध्याय: दुर्योधनका सेनाको सुसज्जित होने और शिविर-निर्माण करनेके लिये आज्ञा देना पा सैनिकोंकी रणयात्राके लिये या जनमेजय उवाच युधिष्ठटिरे सहानीकमुपायान्तं युयुत्सया । संनिविष्टं कुरुक्षेत्र वासुदेवेन पालितम्
janamejaya uvāca | yudhiṣṭhire sahānīkam upāyāntaṁ yuyutsayā | saṁniviṣṭaṁ kurukṣetre vāsudevena pālitam ||
Janamejaya berkata: “Wahai resi, apabila Raja Yudhiṣṭhira—yang berhasrat kepada peperangan—maju dengan seluruh angkatan tenteranya dan, dilindungi oleh Vāsudeva (Kṛṣṇa), tiba di medan Kurukṣetra lalu mendirikan perkemahan yang kukuh di sana, apakah yang dilakukan Duryodhana setelah mendengar khabar itu?”
जनमेजय उवाच
The verse frames the coming conflict in ethical terms: power and preparation matter, but rightful action (dharma) is shown alongside reliance on wise protection—here symbolized by Vāsudeva’s guardianship—suggesting that legitimacy and guidance are central to how war is approached.
Janamejaya asks the sage to narrate Duryodhana’s response after learning that Yudhiṣṭhira has marched with his army, reached Kurukṣetra, and established a secure camp under Kṛṣṇa’s protection—setting the stage for the Kauravas’ countermoves.
