Karna berkata: “Wahai Janārdana, ketika masih gadis belum bersuami, dia mengandungkan aku melalui Dewa Surya (Bhāskara). Dan menurut titah Surya juga, setelah aku lahir dia menghanyutkan aku—menyerahkanku kepada takdir.”
कर्ण उवाच
The verse highlights the ethical tension between divine causation and human responsibility: even when events begin through a god’s power, the human choices made under social fear—such as abandoning a child—carry lasting moral and psychological consequences.
Karna recounts to Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana) the circumstances of his birth: Kuntī, still a maiden, conceived him through the Sun-god, and after his birth—following the Sun’s counsel—she abandoned him, setting the stage for Karna’s lifelong struggle with identity and honor.
