भीष्मद्रोणयोर्दुर्योधनं प्रति शमोपदेशः | Bhīṣma and Droṇa’s Counsel of Conciliation to Duryodhana

अथान्तरिक्षे वागासीद्‌ दिव्यरूपा मनोरमा । सहस्राक्षसम: कुन्ति भविष्यत्येष ते सुत:,कुन्ती बोली--केशव! तुम अर्जुनसे जाकर कहना, तुम्हारे जन्मके समय जब मैं नारियोंसे घिरी हुई आश्रमके सूतिकागारमें बैठी थी, उसी समय आकाशमें यह दिव्यरूपा मनोरम वाणी सुनायी दी--“कुन्ती! तेरा यह पुत्र इन्द्रके समान पराक्रमी होगा

Transliteration

athāntarikṣe vāg āsīd divyarūpā manoramā | sahasrākṣasamaḥ kunti bhaviṣyaty eṣa te sutaḥ ||

Translation

Kemudian, dari angkasa terdengar suatu suara yang indah, berwujud ilahi: “Wahai Kuntī, puteramu ini akan setara dengan Sahasrākṣa (Indra).” Ucapan itu menjadi nubuat yang meneguhkan keperkasaan yang telah ditakdirkan bagi sang anak, serta mengukuhkan harapan akan kewajiban kepahlawanan dan beratnya tuntutan dharma dalam perang yang bakal tiba.
