Educational Q&A

The verse condemns adharma as a matter of character: cruelty and shamelessness are presented as ethical failures that mark a person as morally degraded, warning that loss of modesty and compassion leads to destructive conduct.

In Vaiśampāyana’s narration, certain antagonistic figures are being morally characterized and censured—described as ignoble, wicked, cruel, and shameless—setting the ethical tone for the escalating conflict in the Udyoga Parva.
