Gālava’s Despair and Resolve to Seek Viṣṇu
अन्न तेन तदा भुक्तमन्यैर्दत्तं तपस्विभि: । अथ गह्ान्नमत्युष्णं विश्वामित्रो5प्युपागमत्
anna tena tadā bhuktam anyair dattaṃ tapassibhiḥ | atha gṛhānnam aty-uṣṇaṃ viśvāmitro 'py upāgamat ||
Setelah dia memakan makanan yang diberikan oleh para resi pertapa yang lain, Viśvāmitra pun tiba, membawa hidangan yang amat panas, lalu hadir untuk berkhidmat dan menunggu perintah. Peristiwa ini menonjolkan ujian pengendalian diri serta etika memuliakan tetamu dan berkhidmat dalam kalangan para pertapa.
नारद उवाच
The verse underscores ethical discipline in ascetic life: accepting what is given without attachment, and the importance of service and hospitality even under discomfort (here, the ‘excessively hot’ meal functions as a test of restraint and conduct).
Nārada narrates that after the person in question has already eaten food donated by other ascetics, the sage Viśvāmitra arrives as well, bringing very hot household food and presenting himself to serve/attend—setting up a situation that tests proper behavior around receiving and offering food.
