आदी तु वाचकं चैव वस्त्रगन्धसमन्वितम्‌ | विधिवद्‌ भोजयेद्‌ राजन्‌ मधु पायसमुनत्तमम्‌

ādau tu vācakaṃ caiva vastra-gandha-samanvitam | vidhivad bhojayet rājan madhu pāyasaṃ anuttamam ||

Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Pada permulaan, wahai raja, si pembaca/penyampai hendaklah dimuliakan menurut tatacara—dipakaikan pakaian baharu serta disapukan wangi-wangian—lalu, menurut upacara yang benar, diberi jamuan manis: madu dan bubur susu beras (pāyasa) yang terbaik.”
