Vaiśampāyana berkata: Di kota Purandara (Indra) yang indah, dia bersukaria bersama Śakra. Demikianlah, selama bertahun-tahun dia tinggal di alam syurga dengan penuh kehormatan; kemudian, selama dua puluh satu ribu tahun, dia menetap di kota Indra yang menawan bersama para Gandharva, menikmati kebahagiaan kayangan di sisi raja para dewa.

Educational Q&A

The passage underscores the Mahābhārata’s moral logic of karma: righteous and meritorious action leads to honored residence in Svarga and companionship with divine beings, portraying heavenly enjoyment as a consequence of earned virtue rather than mere chance.

Vaiśampāyana describes a person (contextually, a meritorious soul) dwelling in Indra’s beautiful city, rejoicing with Indra; after many years, he continues for a vast span—twenty-one thousand years—enjoying celestial pleasures with Gandharvas in the presence of Devendra.
