नवमे क्रतुराजस्य वाजिमेधस्य भारत
navame kraturājasya vājimedhasya bhārata bhārata | navāṁ pāraṇaṁ pūrṇa-bhūte śrotā yajñānāṁ rājña aśvamedhasya phalaṁ prāpnoti | sa suvarṇa-stambha-cchada-śobhitam vaidūrya-maṇi-mayī-vedi-vibhūṣitam sarvataḥ jāmbūnada-maya-divya-vātāyana-alaṅkṛtam svarga-vāsi-gandharva-apsarobhiḥ sevitam divya-vimānam āruhya svayā utkṛṣṭa-śobhayā prakāśamānaḥ svarge dvitīya-deva iva devaiḥ saha ānandaṁ bhuṅkte | tasya aṅgeṣu divya-mālā divya-vastrāṇi ca śobhante, sa ca divya-candana-carcitaḥ |
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Wahai Bhārata, apabila observans kesembilan disempurnakan, si pendengar memperoleh pahala Aśvamedha, raja segala korban suci. Dia menaiki vimāna ilahi—dihiasi tiang dan serambi emas, diperlengkap dengan pelantar altar daripada permata vaidūrya, dan dikelilingi dari segala arah oleh jendela-jendela suci daripada emas Jāmbūnada—dilayani Gandharva dan Apsara penghuni syurga; dia bersinar dengan keindahan yang mengatasi segala. Di syurga dia menikmati kebahagiaan bersama para dewa, laksana dewa kedua. Kalungan dan busana ilahi menghiasi tubuhnya, dan dia disapukan cendana surgawi.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage emphasizes karma-phala: devoted completion of a prescribed observance—especially attentive hearing linked with dharma—yields exalted merit comparable to the Aśvamedha, culminating in heavenly enjoyment among the gods.
Vaiśampāyana describes the reward granted after the ninth completion (pāraṇa): the listener gains the fruit of the Aśvamedha and is portrayed ascending to Svarga in a richly adorned celestial vimāna, attended by Gandharvas and Apsarases, enjoying divine bliss with the gods.
