Svargārohaṇa-parva Adhyāya 5 — Karmaphala-Nirdeśa and Phalāśruti (कर्मफलनिर्देशः फलश्रुतिश्च)

इमां भारतसावित्रीं प्रातरुत्थाय यः पठेत्‌ । स भारतफल प्राप्य परं ब्रह्माधिगच्छति

imāṃ bhāratasāvitrīṃ prātar utthāya yaḥ paṭhet | sa bhārata-phalaṃ prāpya paraṃ brahmādhigacchati ||

Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Sesiapa yang bangun awal pagi lalu melafazkan ‘Bhārata-Sāvitrī’ ini—ajaran inti yang disaring daripada Mahābhārata—akan memperoleh pahala penuh seolah-olah telah menelaah seluruh epik, dan dengan buah itu mencapai Brahman Yang Tertinggi.”

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that disciplined daily recitation of the Mahābhārata’s distilled ‘Bhārata-Sāvitrī’ grants the same spiritual merit as studying the whole epic and culminates in realization/attainment of the Supreme Brahman—linking ethical instruction (dharma) with the highest liberation (mokṣa).
