आपद्धर्मे वैश्यवृत्तिः, विक्रय-निषेधाः, तथा ब्रह्म-क्षत्र-सम्बन्धः

यथा दारुमयो हस्ती यथा चर्ममयो मृगः । यथा हाानर्थ: षण्ढो वा पार्थ क्षेत्र यथोषरम्
yathā dārumayo hastī yathā carmamayo mṛgaḥ | yathā hānārthaḥ ṣaṇḍho vā pārtha kṣetra yathoṣaram ||
Bhīṣma berkata: “Seperti gajah daripada kayu dan rusa daripada kulit—hanyalah tiruan yang tidak bernyawa; demikian juga orang yang tidak mampu menghasilkan apa-apa hanyalah kesia-siaan; dan demikian pula ladang yang tandus. Wahai Pārtha, apa jua yang tidak memiliki keupayaan sejati untuk mengeluarkan buah yang sepatutnya, hendaklah dianggap kosong dan tidak produktif.”
