Prāyaścitta-vidhāna: Tapas, Dāna, Vrata, and Proportional Expiation (प्रायश्चित्तविधानम्)

क्रव्यादा दंष्टिण: सर्वे चतुष्पात्‌ पक्षिणश्न ये । येषां चोभयतो दन्ताश्षतुर्दष्टाश्न सर्वश:,'भास, हंस, गरुड़, चक्रवाक, बतख, बगुले, कौए, मदगुउ, गीध, बाज, उल्लू, कच्चे मांस खानेवाले दाढ़ोंसे युक्त सभी हिंसक पशु, चार पैरवाले जीव और पक्षी तथा दोनों ओर दाँत और चार दाढ़ोंवाले सभी जीव अभक्ष्य हैं

kravyādā daṁṣṭinaḥ sarve catuṣpāt pakṣiṇaś ca ye | yeṣāṁ cobhayato dantāś caturdaṣṭāś ca sarvaśaḥ ||

Vyāsa berkata: “Semua pemakan daging dan semua makhluk yang bertaring—sama ada binatang berkaki empat atau burung—dan pada umumnya semua yang mempunyai gigi pada kedua-dua rahang serta empat taring yang jelas, hendaklah dianggap tidak layak dimakan (abhakṣya).”
