Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)
सप्तैते मानसा: प्रोक्ता ऋषयो ब्रह्मण: सुता: । स्वयमागततविज्ञाना निवृत्तिं धर्ममास्थिता:
saptaite mānasāḥ proktā ṛṣayo brahmaṇaḥ sutāḥ | svayam āgatavijñānā nivṛttiṁ dharmam āsthitāḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: “Tujuh ini dinyatakan sebagai para resi yang lahir daripada minda, putera-putera Brahmā. Pengetahuan bangkit dalam diri mereka dengan sendirinya, dan mereka berteguh dalam dharma pelepasan (dharma renunsiasi)—berpaling daripada usaha duniawi serta tegak dalam penarikan diri batin.”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse elevates the ideal of nivṛtti-dharma: sages who are inwardly withdrawn and established in renunciation, guided by self-arisen discriminative knowledge rather than by worldly aims.
Vaiśampāyana identifies a group of seven primordial sages as Brahmā’s mind-born sons and characterizes them as naturally enlightened beings devoted to the renunciant path.
