त्रैलोक्येडपह्ते तेन विमुखे च शचीपतौ । अदित्यां द्वादशादित्य: सम्भविष्यामि कश्यपात्‌,जब वह त्रिलोकीका अपहरण कर लेगा और शचीपति इन्द्र युद्धमें पीठ दिखाकर भाग जायँगे, उस समय मैं कश्यपजीके अंश और अदितिके गर्भसे बारहवाँ आदित्य वामन बनकर प्रकट होऊँगा

trailokye 'pahṛte tena vimukhe ca śacīpatau | adityāṁ dvādaśādityaḥ sambhaviṣyāmi kaśyapāt ||

Bhīṣma berkata: “Apabila dia telah merampas tiga alam, dan apabila tuan Śacī (Indra) berpaling lalu melarikan diri dari medan perang, maka aku akan lahir daripada Kaśyapa—memasuki rahim Aditi—sebagai Āditya yang kedua belas, menampakkan diri sebagai Vāmana.”
