Nārāyaṇasya Guhya-nāmāni Niruktāni (Etymologies of Nārāyaṇa’s Secret Epithets) / नारायणस्य गुह्यनामानि निरुक्तानि

निरामिषा न शोचन्ति त्यजेदामिषमात्मन: । परित्यज्यामिषं सौम्य दुःखतापाद्‌ विमोक्ष्यसे,जिन्होंने भोगोंका परित्याग कर दिया है, वे कभी शोकमें नहीं पड़ते, इसलिये प्रत्येक- मनुष्यको भोगासक्तिका त्याग करना चाहिये। सौम्य! भोगोंका त्याग कर देनेपर तुम दुःख और संतापसे छूट जाओगे

nirāmiṣā na śocanti tyajed āmiṣam ātmanaḥ | parityajyāmiṣaṃ saumya duḥkhatāpād vimokṣyase ||

Nārada berkata: “Mereka yang bebas daripada dahaga terhadap objek indera tidak jatuh ke dalam dukacita. Maka hendaklah seseorang menanggalkan keterikatan pada kenikmatan dari dalam dirinya. Wahai yang lemah lembut, dengan meninggalkan kenikmatan itu engkau akan terlepas daripada duka dan sengsara batin.”
