The human body is abandoned at death, but the conscious principle continues its journey, entering the next realm through a subtle vehicle and perceiving by the ‘eye’ of intellect; therefore inner discernment and karmic accountability remain relevant beyond bodily life.
Vyāsa explains the post-mortem transition: the departing being leaves the gross human body behind, proceeds to the other world, and there experiences and recognizes that realm through buddhi (intellect) as a mode of vision.
