देवतापितृप्रश्नः — Nārada at Badarīāśrama: the ultimate referent of daiva and pitṛ worship

शुभाशुभे पुरा कृते प्रमादकर्मविप्लुते । स्मरन्‌ पुरा न तप्यसे निधत्स्व केवलं निधिम्‌,तुम पहले असावधानतावश जो अनुचितरूपसे शुभाशुभ कर्म कर चुके हो, उसे स्मरण करके उनके फलभोगसे संतप्त होनेके पहले ही अपने लिये केवल ज्ञानका भण्डार भर लो

śubhāśubhe purā kṛte pramāda-karma-viplute | smaran purā na tapyase nidhatsva kevalaṁ nidhim ||

Vyāsa berkata: “Pada masa lalu, kerana kelalaian, engkau telah melakukan perbuatan yang baik dan juga yang buruk, hingga tingkah lakumu menjadi kacau. Jangan membakar diri dengan sesal kerana mengingati apa yang telah berlaku; sebelum buah perbuatan itu masak menjadi derita, himpunkanlah untuk dirimu satu-satunya harta sejati—ilmu pengetahuan.”
