अहं कर्तेति चाप्यन्यो गुणस्तत्र चतुर्दश: । ममायमिति येनायं मनन््यते न ममेति च,उस सत्त्वमें “मैं कर्ता हूँ" ऐसे अभिमानसे युक्त अहंकार नामक एक अन्य चौदहवाँ गुण है, जिससे जीवात्मा “यह वस्तु मेरी है और यह वस्तु मेरी नहीं है' ऐसा मानता है
ahaṃ karteti cāpy anyo guṇas tatra caturdaśaḥ | mamāyam iti yenāyaṃ manyate na mameti ca ||
Bhīṣma berkata: “Ada juga satu lagi sifat di sana—yang keempat belas—disebut egoisme (ahaṃkāra): keangkuhan ‘akulah pelaku’. Melaluinya, makhluk yang berjasad membentuk tanggapan ‘ini milikku’ dan ‘ini bukan milikku’.”
