ततः प्रणम्य शिरसा मयोक्तस्तपतां वर: । यजूषि नोपयुक्तानि क्षिप्रमिच्छामि वेदितुम्‌,तब मैंने मस्तक झुकाकर तपनेवालोंमें श्रेष्ठ भगवान्‌ सूर्यको प्रणाम किया और उनसे कहा--'प्रभो! मैं शीघ्र ही ऐसे यजुर्मन्त्रोंका ज्ञान प्राप्त करना चाहता हूँ” जो आजसे पहले दूसरे किसीके उपयोगमें नहीं आये हैं'

tataḥ praṇamya śirasā mayoktas tapatāṃ varaḥ | yajūṃṣi nopayuktāni kṣipram icchāmi veditum |

Lalu aku menundukkan kepala dengan penuh hormat, menyembah Surya—yang utama dalam kalangan para pertapa—dan berkata: “Wahai Tuhan, aku ingin segera mengetahui mantra-mantra Yajurveda yang belum pernah digunakan oleh sesiapa pun sebelum ini.”
