Educational Q&A

Worldly conditions repeatedly rise and fall—like the sea’s swelling and receding and like wealth’s loss and return. Recognizing this instability, one should not be shaken by gain or loss, but should decide and follow one’s dharma with clarity and steadiness.

In the Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma instructs Yudhiṣṭhira on righteous living after the war. Here he points to observable cycles in nature and human fortune as evidence of impermanence, urging the listener to draw ethical resolve from these patterns.
