Śānti-parva Adhyāya 30: Nārada–Parvata Samaya-bhaṅga, Śāpa, and the Marriage of Sukumārī

Educational Q&A

Desire often does not arise all at once; it grows gradually when allowed to take root. The verse warns that unchecked impulses can strengthen over time, so vigilance and self-restraint are needed early.

Kṛṣṇa describes how, in Nārada’s heart, desire began and then increased slowly—likened to the moon’s steady waxing during the bright fortnight.
