Bhīṣma–Yudhiṣṭhira Dialogue
पराशर उवाच धर्म एव कृत: श्रेयानिह लोके परत्र च । तस्माद्धि परम नास्ति यथा प्राहुर्मनीषिण:
parāśara uvāca | dharma eva kṛtaḥ śreyān iha loke paratra ca | tasmād dhi parama nāsti yathā prāhur manīṣiṇaḥ ||
Parāśara berkata: “Dharma semata-mata—apabila benar-benar diamalkan—ialah kebaikan tertinggi, di dunia ini dan di alam sana. Maka tiadalah yang lebih luhur daripadanya, sebagaimana diisytiharkan oleh orang bijaksana.”
पराशर उवाच
That dharma, when genuinely practiced (not merely discussed), is the highest good and has value both for worldly well-being and for the hereafter; nothing surpasses it.
In the didactic setting of the Śānti Parva, the sage Parāśara delivers a concise instruction, affirming the supremacy of dharma as endorsed by wise authorities.
