Haṃsa–Sādhya Saṃvāda: Satya, Dama, Kṣamā and the Discipline of Speech

स्नेहजानिह ते पाशान्‌ वक्ष्यामि शृणु तान्‌ मम । सकर्णकेन शिरसा शक्या: श्रोतुं विजानता,'मैं तुम्हें स्नेहजनित बन्धनोंका परिचय देता हूँ, उन्हें तुम मुझसे सुनो। श्रवणेन्द्रियसम्पन्न समझदार मनुष्य ही ऐसी बातोंको बुद्धिपूर्वक सुन सकता है”

snehajān iha te pāśān vakṣyāmi śṛṇu tān mama | sa-karṇakena śirasā śakyāḥ śrotuṁ vijānatā ||

Bhīṣma berkata: “Aku akan menghuraikan ikatan-ikatan yang lahir daripada kasih-sayang; dengarlah daripadaku. Hanya orang yang berakal budi—yang fikirannya waspada dan telinganya benar-benar mendengar—mampu mendengar serta memahami nasihat seperti ini dengan tepat.”
