Janaka–Parāśara: Varṇa, Gotra, and Dharma Inquiry
इत्येतन्मयमेवैतत् सर्व स्थावरजड्रमम् । प्रलये च तमभ्येति तस्मादुद्दिश्यते पुन:
ity etan mayam evaitat sarvaṁ sthāvara-jaḍam | pralaye ca tam abhyeti tasmād uddiśyate punaḥ ||
Bhīṣma berkata: “Demikianlah, segala yang ada ini—segala yang tetap dan tidak bergerak—sesungguhnya tersusun daripada Māyā. Dan pada saat pralaya (peleburan), semuanya kembali menyatu ke dalam prinsip itu. Maka, hal ini diucapkan lagi dengan cara demikian, untuk menandai kebenaran tersebut.”
भीष्म उवाच
The verse teaches that the manifested world—especially the immovable and inert domain of matter—is a product of Māyā, and that at pralaya it resolves back into its source; this is stated to orient the listener toward detachment and insight into impermanence.
In Śānti Parva, Bhīṣma continues his instruction to Yudhiṣṭhira on higher knowledge and the nature of reality, summarizing that the material cosmos is māyā-made and ultimately dissolves back into its originating principle at cosmic dissolution.
