इमा हि देवता: सर्वा ऋषयश्न परंतप । तव क्रोधान्महादेव न शान्तिमुपलेभिरे,शत्रुओंको संताप देनेवाले महादेव! ये सब देवता और ऋषि आपके क्रोधसे संतप्त होकर कहीं शान्ति नहीं पा रहे हैं
imā hi devatāḥ sarvā ṛṣayaś ca parantapa | tava krodhān mahādeva na śāntim upalebhire ||
Bhishma berkata: “Wahai penunduk musuh—wahai Mahādeva—segala dewa dan para resi ini, hangus oleh murka tuanku, tidak memperoleh ketenteraman. Amarah tuanku telah menjadi bahang yang melalap dunia, hingga makhluk-makhluk tertinggi pun gelisah selagi ia belum dipadamkan.”
