प्रादुर्बभूव सुमहानग्नि: कालानलोपम: । तत्पश्चात्‌ अमिततेजस्वी देवेश्वर महादेवजीके क्रोधके कारण उनके ललाटसे भयंकर पसीनेकी बूँद प्रकट हुई। उस पसीनेके बिन्दुके पृथ्वीपर पड़ते ही कालाग्निके समान विशाल अग्निपुंजका प्रादुर्भाव हुआ ।। तत्र चाजायत तदा पुरुष: पुरुषर्षभ

bhīṣma uvāca | prādurbabhūva sumahān agniḥ kālānalopamaḥ | tatpaścād amitatejasvī deveśvaraḥ mahādevaḥ krodhakāraṇāt tasya lalāṭāt bhayaṅkaraḥ svedabinduḥ prādurbabhūva | tasya svedabindor bhūmau patitasya kālāgnisadṛśaḥ viśālaḥ agnipuñjaḥ prādurbhūtaḥ || tatra cājāyata tadā puruṣaḥ puruṣarṣabhaḥ ||

Bhishma berkata: “Tiba-tiba terjelma api yang amat besar, laksana nyala Kālānala yang memakan dunia pada akhir zaman. Sesudah itu, Tuhan para dewa yang maha bercahaya, Mahādeva—didorong oleh sebab amarah—mengeluarkan setitis peluh yang menggerunkan dari dahinya. Saat titisan itu jatuh ke bumi, terbitlah segumpal api yang maha luas, sebanding dengan kebakaran kosmik. Dan di situ, pada ketika itu juga, lahirlah seorang lelaki—yang utama antara manusia.”
