Parāśara’s Counsel on बुद्धि (Discernment), Karma-Consequences, and Avoidance of Pāpānubandha Actions
एतत् त्वां मामकं तेज: समाविशति वासव । व्यग्रमेनं त्वमप्येन॑ वज़ेण जहि दानवम्
etat tvāṃ māmakam tejaḥ samāviśati vāsava | vyagram enaṃ tvam apy enaṃ vajreṇa jahi dānavam ||
Mahesvara bersabda: “Wahai Vāsava, tejas milikku kini memasuki dirimu. Dānava Vṛtra pada saat ini sedang gelisah dan tersiksa oleh demam; dalam keadaan itulah, bunuhlah dia dengan vajra-mu.”
महेश्वर उवाच
Divine power is granted for the sake of dharma: when a protector is empowered, he must act decisively and responsibly to remove a destructive threat, not for personal pride but to restore order and safeguard beings.
Maheśvara addresses Indra, stating that Śiva’s tejas is entering Indra. Since Vṛtra is weakened and agitated by fever, Indra is instructed to seize the moment and slay the Dānava with the vajra.
