अफ-#-#रू- षट्सप्तत्याधिकद्विशततमो<ध्याय: तृष्णाके परित्यागके विषयमें माण्डव्य मुनि और जनकका संवाद युधिछिर उवाच भ्रातर: पितर: पौत्रा ज्ञातय: सुहृद: सुता: । अर्थहेतोह्ता: क्र्रैरस्माभि: पापकर्मभि:

Yudhiṣṭhira uvāca—

Bhrātaraḥ pitaraḥ pautrā jñātayaḥ suhṛdaḥ sutāḥ |

Artha-hetoḥ hatāḥ krūraiḥ asmābhiḥ pāpa-karmabhiḥ ||

Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “Wahai Datuk, kami kejam dan tenggelam dalam dosa. Demi harta semata-mata, kami—melalui perbuatan jahat—telah menyebabkan kematian saudara-saudara, bapa-bapa, cucu-cucu, kaum kerabat, sahabat-sahabat, bahkan anak-anak lelaki kami. Keinginan rakus yang lahir daripada kekayaan inilah yang mendorong kami melakukan kejahatan besar. Bagaimanakah kami dapat mencabut akar dahaga (tṛṣṇā) ini?”
