तृष्णाक्षय-उपदेशः

Instruction on the Cessation of Craving

स्यूमराश्मिरुवाच सर्वमेतन्मया ब्रह्मन्‌ शास्त्रतः परिकीर्तितम्‌ । न ह्विज्ञाय शान्त्रार्थ प्रवर्तन्ते प्रवृत्तय:,स्यूमरश्मिने कहा--ब्रह्मन! मैंने यहाँ जो कुछ कहा है, वह सब शास्त्रसे प्रतिपादित है; क्योंकि शास्त्रके अर्थको जाने बिना किसीकी किसी भी कार्यमें प्रवृत्ति नहीं होती

Syūmarāśmir uvāca: sarvam etan mayā brahman śāstrataḥ parikīrtitam | na hi vijñāya śāstrārthaṁ pravartante pravṛttayaḥ ||

Syūmarāśmi berkata: “Wahai Brahmana, segala yang telah aku nyatakan di sini telah dihuraikan berdasarkan kewibawaan śāstra. Kerana tanpa memahami makna śāstra, dorongan dan usaha seseorang tidak benar-benar dapat bergerak dengan berasas.”
