परंतु मूढ़ मानव दान और यज्ञ-कर्मके फलके सिवा योग आदिके फलका अनुमोदन नहीं करते। वे उन मोक्षप्रद समस्त साधनोंके महत्त्वको न जाननेके कारण स्वर्ग आदि अन्य फलोंमें ही रुचि रखते हैं ।। स्वकर्मभि: संश्रितानां तपो घोरत्वमागतम्‌ | त॑ सदाचारमश्रित्य पुराणं शाश्व॒तं ध्रुवम्‌,किंतु उस पुराण, शाश्वत एवं ध्रुव यौगिक सदाचारका आश्रय लेकर अपने कर्तव्य कर्मोमें परायण रहनेवाले ज्ञानियोंका तप उत्तरोत्तर तीव्रताको प्राप्त होता है

parantu mūḍhā mānavā dāna-yajña-karmaphalaṃ vinā yogādika-phalasya anumodanaṃ na kurvanti | te mokṣapradānāṃ sarva-sādhanānāṃ māhātmyaṃ ajānantaḥ svargādi-anyaphaleṣu eva ruciṃ kurvanti || svakarmabhiḥ saṃśritānāṃ tapo ghoratvam āgatam | tat sadācāram āśritya purāṇaṃ śāśvataṃ dhruvaṃ || kintu tasmin purāṇe śāśvate dhruve ca yaugike sadācāre āśritaḥ svakartavya-karmeṣu parāyaṇānāṃ jñānināṃ tapaḥ uttarottaraṃ tīvratāṃ prāpnoti |

Kapila berkata: “Manusia yang tersesat hanya mengakui ganjaran yang tampak daripada sedekah dan upacara korban (yajña), dan tidak mengiktiraf buah yoga serta disiplin yang seumpamanya. Kerana mereka tidak memahami kebesaran segala jalan yang membawa kepada moksha, selera mereka tetap terpaut pada ganjaran lain seperti syurga. Namun bagi orang bijaksana—mereka yang berlindung pada tata susila yogik yang purba, kekal, dan tidak tergoyahkan, serta tekun pada kewajipan masing-masing—tapa mereka kian hari kian memuncak, mengubah diri, dan naik setahap demi setahap menuju pembebasan.”
