पापात्म-धर्मात्म-लक्षणम् तथा निर्वेदेन मोक्षमार्गः | Marks of the Sinful and the Righteous; Dispassion (Nirveda) as a Path to Liberation
एवं स गौतमस्तत्र प्रीतः पुत्रस्य भारत । कर्मणा तेन कौरव्य चिरकारितया तथा
evaṃ sa gautamas tatra prītaḥ putrasya bhārata | karmaṇā tena kauravya cirakāritayā tathā ||
Demikianlah, di sana Gautama berasa gembira terhadap puteranya, wahai Bhārata—gembira oleh perbuatan itu, wahai Kauravya, dan juga oleh usaha yang dipikul dengan sabar serta berpanjangan di sebaliknya.
भीष्म उवाच
Righteous action (karma) performed with patience and sustained effort earns the approval of elders and supports dharma; virtue is shown not only in the deed but in steadfast perseverance.
Bhīṣma continues a dharma-illustration, stating that the sage Gautama became pleased with his son because of the son’s deed and the long, persevering manner in which it was carried out.
