कपिल–स्यूमरश्मि संवादः

Kapila and Syūmaraśmi on Renunciation, Householder Support, and Epistemic Authority

ततस्तानेव कवय: शास्त्रेषु प्रवदन्त्युत । कीर्त्यर्थमल्पहल्लेखा: पटव: कृत्स्ननिर्णया:

tatas tān eva kavayaḥ śāstreṣu pravadanty uta | kīrty-artham alpa-hal-lekhāḥ paṭavaḥ kṛtsna-nirṇayāḥ ||

Oleh itu, para kavi dan resi yang berilmu menyatakan dalam śāstra bahawa merekalah—orang yang benar-benar mampu menganugerahkan abhaya-dāna, pemberian tanpa takut—yang terbaik. Namun dalam kalangan mereka, sesiapa yang fikirannya berpaling ke luar dan diam-diam menyimpan keinginan akan nikmat indera yang sekejap, memelihara nazar abhaya-dāna itu terutama demi kemasyhuran dan sanjungan. Adapun mereka yang benar-benar mahir dan tajam pertimbangannya, mengambil nazar ini demi mencapai Brahman Yang Tertinggi dalam kepenuhannya.
