अध्याय २५६ — श्रद्धा, अहिंसा, स्पर्धा-त्यागः
Tūlādhāra–Jājali: Faith, Non-harm, and Renunciation of Rivalry
अभावं हि न गच्छेयुरुच्छिन्नप्रजना: प्रजा: । अधिदैवे नियुक्तोडस्मि त्वया लोकेश्चरेश्वर,लोकेश्चरेश्वरर आपने मुझे देवताओंके आधिपत्य-पदपर नियुक्त किया है, अतः मैं आपसे प्रार्थना करता हूँ, यदि प्रजाकी संततिका उच्छेद होगा तो समस्त प्रजाओंका सर्वथा अभाव ही हो जायगा; अत: आप इस विनाशको बंद कीजिये
abhāvaṃ hi na gaccheyur ucchinnaprajānāḥ prajāḥ | adhidaive niyukto 'smi tvayā lokeśvareśvara ||
Nārada berkata: “Jika keturunan terputus, manusia akan jatuh ke dalam ketiadaan yang mutlak. Engkau telah melantik aku dalam pentadbiran ilahi, wahai Tuhan bagi para penguasa segala alam; maka aku merayu kepadamu—hentikanlah kebinasaan ini, kerana lenyapnya zuriat bererti lenyapnya seluruh makhluk.”
नारद उवाच
The verse frames the protection of progeny and continuity of society as a dharmic imperative: when lineage and offspring are destroyed, social and cosmic continuity collapses into ‘abhāva’ (non-existence). It urges the ruler/supreme authority to restrain destructive forces and preserve life and succession.
Nārada addresses a supreme lord (styled ‘lokeśvareśvara’), reminding him that Nārada has been appointed to a divine administrative role. From that responsibility he petitions the lord to halt a destructive course that would sever progeny and thereby annihilate the very existence of the people.
