Śaṅkha–Likhita Upākhyāna: Daṇḍa, Confession, and the Purification of Kingship (शङ्ख-लिखितोपाख्यानम्)
दैवीं सिद्धि मानुषीं दण्डनीतिं योगन्यासै: पालयित्वा महीं च । तस्माद् राजा धर्मशीलो महात्मा वाजिग्रीवो मोदते देवलोके,“योग (कर्मविषयक उत्साह) और न्यास (अहंकार आदिके त्याग) सहित दैवी सिद्धि, मानुषी सिद्धि, दण्डनीति तथा पृथ्वीका पालन करके धर्मशील महात्मा राजा हयग्रीव उसीके पुण्यसे इस समय देवलोकमें सुख भोगते हैं
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
daivīṁ siddhiṁ mānuṣīṁ daṇḍanītiṁ yoganyāsaiḥ pālayitvā mahīṁ ca |
tasmād rājā dharmaśīlo mahātmā vājigrīvo modate devaloke ||
Vaiśampāyana berkata: Setelah menegakkan bumi melalui pemerintahan berdisiplin (daṇḍanīti), disertai tekad yogik dalam tindakan serta pelepasan ego (nyāsa), dan setelah meraih kejayaan baik yang bersifat ilahi mahupun manusiawi, raja Vājigrīva yang berpegang pada dharma dan berhati agung kini bersukacita di alam para dewa kerana jasa kebajikannya.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Righteous kingship is portrayed as a synthesis of effective governance (daṇḍanīti), energetic commitment to duty (yoga), and inner renunciation of ego and attachment (nyāsa). Such rule, grounded in dharma, yields both worldly stability and spiritual merit culminating in heavenly reward.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana states that King Vājigrīva protected and administered the earth using sound political discipline while combining purposeful action with renunciation. Because of this dharmic conduct and the merit it generated, he is said to be enjoying happiness in devaloka.
