Yoga-kṛtya (योककृत्य) — Vyāsa on Sense-Restraint, Obstacles, and Brahman-Realization

ऋषयस्तपसा वेदानध्यैषन्त दिवानिशम्‌ । अनादिनिधना विद्या वागुत्सृष्टा स्वयम्भुवा

ṛṣayas tapasā vedān adhyaiṣanta divāniśam | anādinidhanā vidyā vāg utsṛṣṭā svayambhuvā |

Vyāsa bersabda: Para resi, diperkasa oleh tapa (tapas), menelaah Weda siang dan malam. Pengetahuan Weda itu—tanpa awal dan tanpa akhir—mula-mula dilafazkan sebagai sabda suci oleh Yang Terlahir Sendiri (Brahmā). Petikan ini menegaskan bahawa wahyu didekati melalui tapas yang berdisiplin dan pengajian yang berterusan, dan bahawa ilmu sejati dipandang sebagai abadi serta tidak bersifat peribadi, bukan sekadar ciptaan manusia.
