धृतिमानात्मवान् बुद्धि निगृह्लीयादसंशयम् । मनो बुद्धया निगृह्लीयाद् विषयान्मनसा55त्मन:,बुद्धिमान् एवं धीर पुरुषको चाहिये कि वह बुद्धिको निश्चय ही अपने वशमें करे; फिर बुद्धिके द्वारा मनको और मनके द्वारा अपनी इन्द्रियोंको विषयोंकी ओरसे रोककर अपने अधीन करे
Translation
Orang yang bijaksana, teguh dan menguasai diri hendaklah menundukkan buddhi (akal budi) dengan pasti, tanpa ragu. Kemudian, dengan buddhi ia menundukkan manas (fikiran), dan dengan manas ia menahan pancaindera daripada menuju kepada objek-objek deria, menjadikannya tunduk di bawah kendalinya.
