Educational Q&A

Bhishma advises that although many logical systems and debated doctrines exist, one should adhere to and worship that highest Reality/teaching which is supported by three validators: sound reasoning (hetu), authoritative tradition (āgama), and righteous conduct (sadācāra).

In the Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma and liberation, Bhishma continues counseling Yudhishthira, cautioning him not to be lost in competing argumentative schools, and directing him toward a practice-oriented, ethically grounded pursuit of the highest truth.
