परित्यजति यो दु:खं सुखं वाप्युभयं नर: । अभ्येति ब्रह्म सो>त्यन्तं न ते शोचन्ति पण्डिता:,जो मनुष्य सुख और दु:ख दोनोंको छोड़ देता है, वह अक्षय ब्रह्मको प्राप्त होता है, अतः: वे ज्ञानी पुरुष कभी शोक नहीं करते हैं
parityajati yo duḥkhaṃ sukhaṃ vāpy ubhayaṃ naraḥ | abhyeti brahma so ’tyantaṃ na te śocanti paṇḍitāḥ ||
Sesiapa yang meninggalkan kedua-duanya—duka dan suka—tanpa diperintah oleh mana-mana, akan mencapai Brahman yang tertinggi lagi tidak binasa. Maka orang bijaksana tidak tenggelam dalam kesedihan.
भीष्म उवाच
Freedom comes from relinquishing attachment to both pleasure and pain. When one is no longer pulled by these opposites, one becomes steady and fit for realization of Brahman; hence the wise do not grieve.
In the Shanti Parva’s instruction section, Bhishma continues advising on dharma and liberation-oriented conduct, emphasizing inner detachment and equanimity as the basis for transcending sorrow and reaching the highest reality.
