निर्वेदोपदेशः (Nirveda-Upadeśa) — Maṅki’s Dispassion and the Limits of Wealth-Seeking

इत्युक्त: प्रययौ राजन्‌ गौतमो विगतक्लम: । फलान्यमृतकल्पानि भक्षयन्‌ स यथेष्टत:,राजन्‌! उसके ऐसा कहनेपर गौतम वहाँसे चल दिया। उसकी सारी थकावट दूर हो चुकी थी। महाराज! मार्गमें तेजपातोंके वनमें, जहाँ चन्दन और अगुरुके वृक्षोंकी प्रधानता थी, विश्राम करता और इच्छानुसार अमृतके समान मधुर फल खाता हुआ वह बड़ी तेजीसे आगे बढ़ता चला गया

ity uktaḥ prayayau rājan gautamo vigataklamaḥ | phalāny amṛtakalpāni bhakṣayan sa yatheṣṭataḥ ||

Bhishma berkata: “Wahai Raja, setelah demikian dinasihati, Gautama pun berangkat, lenyap seluruh keletihannya. Di sepanjang jalan dia berehat di rimbunan yang harum dengan daun tejapāta, tempat pohon cendana dan aguru tumbuh melimpah; dan sambil memakan buah-buahan manis laksana amerta menurut kehendaknya, dia melangkah maju dengan pantas.”

The verse highlights the ascetic ideal of contentment and resilience: once inner burden (klama) is removed—often through right counsel or resolution—one proceeds steadily, taking simple, natural sustenance without excess, and continuing one’s dharmic course.

After being addressed in the preceding context, the sage Gautama sets out. His fatigue has vanished; he rests briefly in fragrant groves and eats nectar-like fruits as needed, then continues his journey swiftly.
