असंतोषादिदोष-निरूपणम्

On the Faults of Discontent and the Discipline of Detachment

संकल्पेषु निरारम्भो निराशो निर्ममो भव | अशोकं स्थानमातिष्ठ इह चामुत्र चाव्ययम्‌,अपने मनोरथोंके पीछे बड़े-बड़े कार्योका आरम्भ न करो। आशा तथा ममता न रखो और उस शोकरहित पदका आश्रय लो जो इहलोक और परलोकमें भी अविनाशी है

saṅkalpeṣu nirārambho nirāśo nirmamo bhava | aśokaṁ sthānam ātiṣṭha iha cāmutra cāvyayam ||

Yudhiṣṭhira berkata: “Dalam hal keinginan dan perancangan, jangan tergesa-gesa memulakan usaha besar. Jadilah bebas daripada harapan dan bebas daripada rasa memiliki. Berlindunglah pada keadaan tanpa duka itu, yang tidak binasa—di dunia ini dan di dunia sana.”
