त्रिवर्गविचारः

Tri-varga Deliberation: Dharma, Artha, Kāma

प्रेत्य चात्र मनुष्येन्द्र परमं विन्दते सुखम्‌ । दमेन हि समायुक्तो महान्तं धर्ममश्लुते,नरेन्द्र! दमसे अर्थात्‌ इन्द्रिय और मनके संयमसे युक्त पुरुषको महान धर्मकी प्राप्ति होती है। वह इहलोक और परलोकमें भी परम सुख पाता है

pretya cātra manuṣyendra paramaṃ vindate sukham | damena hi samāyukto mahāntaṃ dharmam aśnute, narendra |

Bhishma berkata: “Wahai yang terbaik di antara manusia, sesiapa yang dikurniai pengendalian diri akan mencapai kebahagiaan tertinggi, baik di sini mahupun selepas kematian. Kerana insan yang terlatih dengan dama—menguasai pancaindera dan minda—akan meraih Dharma yang agung, wahai raja.”
