Janamejaya’s Appeal for Pacification and Śaunaka’s Counsel on Humility (जनमेजय-शौनक संवादः)
वह लुहारके घर जाकर आग ले आया और सूखे पत्तोंपर रखकर उसने वहाँ अग्नि प्रज्वलित कर दी ।।
sa sandīptaṁ mahat kṛtvā tam āha śaraṇāgatam | pratāpaya suviśrabdhaḥ svagātrāṇy akuto-bhayaḥ ||
Dia pergi ke rumah tukang besi untuk mendapatkan api, lalu meletakkannya di atas daun-daun kering dan menyalakan nyalaan di situ. Setelah menjadikan api itu marak menyala besar, burung merpati berkata kepada tetamu yang datang memohon perlindungan: “Saudaraku, kini tiada apa yang perlu engkau takutkan. Tenangkan hati—panaskanlah seluruh anggota tubuhmu di api ini tanpa gentar.”
