The Dove’s Lament and Celestial Reunion
As a colophon, the verse itself does not state a doctrine, but it frames the ethical purpose of the coming episode: in Āpaddharma, dharma is tested under pressure, and the kapota–lubdhaka dialogue is introduced as a vehicle to examine compassion, restraint, and right conduct when survival and duty conflict.
The chapter-ending colophon announces that the 143rd chapter has concluded and that the text is entering the introductory portion of the dialogue between the dove and the hunter within the Āpaddharma section of the Śānti Parva.
