Educational Q&A

Prosperity and the survival of beings depend on timely, life-sustaining forces—symbolized by Indra’s rain—which uphold order and enable nourishment (herbs and crops). The verse highlights the ethical ideal of sustaining life and the dharmic link between cosmic order and human welfare.

Bhīṣma describes a moment when Indra sends abundant rain. This rain revives all living beings and causes medicinal and food-bearing plants to grow, restoring vitality and supporting the world’s population.
