Kṣemadarśa–Kālakavṛkṣīya Saṃvāda: Counsel on Impermanence, Non-attachment, and Composure in Dispossession

त्वं पुन: प्राज्ञरूप: सन्‌ कृपणं परितप्यसे । अकाम्यान्‌ कामयानोडर्थान्‌ पराधीनानुपद्रवान्‌,परंतु तुम तो समझदार हो, तुम्हें मालूम है, भोग प्रारब्धके अधीन और अस्थिर हैं, तो भी नहीं चाहनेयोग्य विषयोंको चाहते हो और उनके लिये दीनता दिखाते हुए शोक कर रहे हो

tvaṁ punaḥ prājñarūpaḥ san kṛpaṇaṁ paritapyase | akāmyān kāmayāno 'rthān parādhīnān upadravān ||

Bhīṣma berkata: Walaupun engkau tampak bijaksana, engkau masih menyeksa diri dengan dukacita yang remeh. Engkau mengingini perkara yang sebenarnya tidak layak diingini—yang bergantung pada orang lain dan sarat dengan bencana—lalu, kerana melekat padanya, engkau meratap dalam keadaan tidak berdaya.
