संदर्शेनेव सेनाया भयं भीरून् प्रबाधते | वज्रादिव प्रज्वलितादियं क्व नु पतिष्यति,शत्रुकी सेनाको देखते ही कायरोंको भय सताने लगता है, मानो उनके ऊपर प्रज्वलित वज्र गिरनेवाला हो। वे सोचते हैं, न जाने यह सेना किसके ऊपर पड़ेगी?
saṁdarśanenaiva senāyā bhayaṁ bhīrūn prabādhate | vajrādiva prajvalitād iyaṁ kva nu patiṣyati ||
Bhīṣma bersabda: “Sekadar melihat bala tentera, ketakutan menekan orang yang pengecut. Seolah-olah halilintar yang menyala-nyala bakal menyambar mereka; mereka terus tertanya-tanya, ‘Ke atas siapakah, sebenarnya, pasukan ini akan menimpa?’”
